“Bomb Cyclone” hitting NYC and Eastern Seaboard Wednesday into Thursday

New York City, along with the entire east coast is bracing for a massive winter storm known as a “bomb cyclone.” The storm is expected to bring up to six inches of snow to New York City, in addition to a continuation of very bitter cold. Some wind chills in the tristate area are expected to be as cold as -25 degrees Fahrenheit.  Even the southeastern, generally warm states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida are seeing significant snow accumulations for the first time in a while.

It is important that homeowners along the eastern seaboard prepare for significant snow and ice accumulation, as well as high winds. If damage to a home occurs as a result of the storm, the homeowner should inform his or her insurance company as soon as possible. Homeowners should always make sure to take pictures and video of any damage that occurs in order to have proof of damage for the insurance company.

Of course, the insurance company will always want to save money because they are for-profit companies. In some cases, homeowners may want to obtain a second opinion from a public adjuster. If you feel as though you have been slighted by the insurance company, contact our firm to discuss your legal options.
